I have a question for you. Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?

Ever since Google’s keyword suggestion tool started a few years ago, funny and somewhat inappropriate suggestions can appear randomly during innocent searches.

One of Google’s favorite keyword suggestions on the internet is “Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” This strange question actually has a humble beginning in a brief scene from the American television series “Lost”, created by Jeffrey Lieber, JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof.

The television series is actually about a plane crash that leaves the passengers stranded on a tropical island, where they have to battle the elements and themselves to survive. The scene under discussion is just a 5 second section of one of his many episodes.

As silly as it sounds, ridiculous searches like this have a relatively high global monthly search volume. The popularity of these nonsensical suggestions is phenomenal, with the Pakistani couch phrase receiving approximately fifty thousand searches each month. What’s surprising is that Google doesn’t try to rectify these stupid mistakes, which have no real research value for most Internet users.

Funny tips like this are taking the internet by storm and continue to make internet users laugh. Many other suggestions include “Why can’t I have a Canadian” and “Are donkeys waterproof?” Where these suggestions come from and who initially searches for them is a mystery, but the Internet wouldn’t be the same without them.
