Zune – Pros and Cons

Shopping Product Reviews

The Zune is the first real competitor to the iPod, and it has some features the iPod doesn’t have, and in some areas, it’s not as good. I researched the Zune and put together a list of the most common pros and cons. Many of these are compared to the iPod, but not all.

advantages

Better-sounding music: Although the Zune doesn’t have an equalizer, people have reported that music sounds better.

You can use click and/or tap: If you don’t like the click wheel (on the iPod), you can use the touch method on the Zune where, for example, to go down a list, just tap the bottom of the pad .

Large screen: large, clear and easy to read.

Navigation: Once you get used to it, it’s very friendly.

FM Radio – also includes RDBS

Supports podcasts, so you can still get a dose of your favorite podcast

Wireless synchronization with PC using WiFi, much better than a cable!

Well made, feels solid.

cons

Battery life – A common complaint for media players, especially for people who watch a lot of videos.

PC software: Software can take a while to get used to (so much so that people give up), but once you get used to it, it’s better than iTunes.

Switch from an iPod: Apple doesn’t make moving music easy!

Can’t be used to store files: This is a feature most MP3 players have, it’s strange the Zune doesn’t.

Overall, the Zune is a welcome addition to the media player market. It can be hard to give up your iPod, especially when you’re used to it, but you should consider the Zune the next time you’re looking to replace your media player.
