Success in Facebook marketing: monetize your social networks

Virtually all of the major internet marketers have a presence on Facebook. Some have lots and lots of dedicated followers who take their words as gospel. And Facebook can be a powerful marketing tool if used correctly. Unfortunately, there are those who abuse their presence there and actually do a lot to damage their image in terms of marketing their services or products.

One of the keys to success is developing a fairly large following. Facebook helps you by suggesting friends who are already friends with your friends. Make sure your list subscribers are well aware of your Facebook presence. Put a link to your Facebook profile on your sites and blogs. You really need to promote your Facebook presence everywhere.

Now, there are affiliate marketers I run into all the time posting affiliate links all over the place begging me to check out this product or that product many times a day. In general, I stop being friends because they can cover the works with useless dribbling.

The best Facebook marketers take a more subtle approach. My main tactic is to post something free and useful on one of my blogs. If people click on the link, I don’t hit them with a squeeze page first, I take them directly to the blog. I put a sticky post at the top of the blog offering another free bonus in exchange for signing up for my list. So you get what I promised you in my Facebook post and even more.

People will consider you a nasty jerk if you do too much marketing on Facebook. But if you can attract followers to your blog and opt-in to them on your list, then you can market to them at will over and over again.

An alternative technique that can work very well is to offer a free video in a Facebook post. It has to be an impactful video that helps viewers solve a common problem. The idea is to provide a great video, with great value for free, but then offer a series of follow-up videos in exchange for subscribing to your list.

If you get a quality video that grabs the attention of your followers, and if you can give them enough information to help them without giving them too much information, you can expect a large number of viewers to subscribe to your first video. to your list to get the other related videos.

One caveat I would give is not to go the following path. Many Facebook users will post saying that they have a free video that you will find useful. But when you click the link, it takes you to nothing more than a sales video for an affiliate product. This not-so-subtle approach to monetizing your Facebook presence can wear down your followers. If you offer them a video, make sure it’s informative and not just an affiliate sales tool. Don’t start marketing them until you have them on your list!
