Pharmaceutical Tips for Your Pet Horse – I Have a Book You Need to Read

Pets

When it comes to healthcare, most people right now are thinking about their own healthcare costs, the implications of ObamaCare, and how to stay healthy. Sure, we humans care about those things, but we’re not the only species at this pale blue spot. What if you have horses? Well, in that case there is no universal medical care for horses, or they live or die and evolution takes its course from there, but when they are our pets we would certainly like to take advantage of nature and improve our chances, not only for horses for racing, hunters and jumpers, but also for our personal horses.

In fact, if you have a horse, I have a very good book that I would like to recommend to you. It will help you protect your horse and understand a little about the nuances of this species, along with the physiological needs that you may not have considered. The name of the book is;

“Equine Medications – Your Guide to Horse Health Care and Management”, by Barbara D. Forney, MS, VMD, Eclipse Press, Lexington, KY, 2007, 240 pages, ISBN: 978-1-58150-151- 3.

One of the best parts of this book is the first chapter that explains how to use this book, what it should be used for, and how to make it a solid reference when you really need it in the future. There are also interesting chapters on “Medication Rules for Competition Horses” and “Medication Administration” that I think you should primarily focus on. Another important chapter is “Medical Mathematics” and how to calculate the amount of pharmaceutical drug to give to a horse based on its weight and other such things.

The last chapter is probably the most important, as it explains each type of medicine, how it should be used, and when it should be used. Not only that, there is a section that covers brand name drugs and their generic counterparts, if you want to save money. You see, you need to know about drug interactions, special considerations, and basic information. This book will help you decrease side effects and the possibility of an overdose, as well as alert you in advance if you have made a mistake in taking your medications and prevent you from giving the wrong medications for the wrong reasons.

If you have a horse, this book is a must in my opinion. So I highly recommend this book to you and am happy to tell you that it costs less than $ 20, and that makes it so much better. Consider all of this and think about it.
