Minimum, Medium and Maximum Security Prisons – Differences in Security Levels
Our correctional facilities are designed to house those convicted of a crime. One reason to put a criminal in jail is for his rehabilitation. While undergoing treatment within the confinement area, each offender is provided with adequate security to ensure that no one ever escapes. Security measures are taken to ensure that inmates while serving their sentence are safe from harm. Minimum Security Prison – This is one of the prison classifications where the security that is implemented is lenient. It is designed to house people convicted of minor crimes. The inmates are not guarded as well because most of the inmates are classified as low risk. Most of the crimes committed by criminals are minor and most of them are first time offenders of the law. Inmates have more freedom of movement within prison facilities and are not restricted from interacting with other inmates.
Medium Security Prison: The security level applied in this particular category is not that flexible but not very strict either. However, restrictions apply to some privileges and to the movement of inmates within the holding area.
Maximum security prison – In this penitentiary compound were the inmates sentenced to life imprisonment and with the death penalty. This serves as the home of the most dangerous and high-risk criminals. Inmate movement is highly restricted and inmate activity is closely monitored. A very high level of security is being implemented at this prison facility.
Extremely dangerous prisoners are given maximum security, while less caution is employed for first-time lawbreakers. But no matter how we treat those criminals in jail, we still have to respect their rights as human beings.
