Maltese Training – Fun Things You Can Teach Your Maltese

Pets

A Maltese training usually involves training a pet to do basic obedience such as sit, come, stay and lie down. Training sessions should also be devoted to potty training your dog and getting used to the crate, collar and leash. These lessons, although they seem challenging at times, should not be taken for granted in order to avoid various problems and difficulties associated with owning a dog.

However, you can’t limit yourself or your dog to just the basics and important ones. With time, dedication and the right procedure, a dog like the Maltese can learn to entertain you with various antics such as playing dead, rolling over, shaking, high five and more.

Find them. Watching a Maltese training video with a dog that knows where to find things is really entertaining. A pet dog that follows commands like “go get mommy!” or “find your frisbee!” he is definitely a fun dog to be around.

Struggle. This breed may not be as adept as a retriever when it comes to this trick, but it’s not impossible for them to learn to catch things you throw at them. Start with popcorn or candy because they are light. Then replace it with a ball, Frisbee, and other toys as you go.

Playing the dead. Of course, every owner’s heart will definitely swell with pride and joy if his beloved pet knows how to play dead when someone points a finger at him in a gun-like position and says “bang!”.

Pick up things. Do you need help with homework? You can ask your four-legged friend to pick up his things scattered around the house. This part of Maltese training is not only entertaining but also useful.

Give me five. Isn’t it great to have a pet that gives you a high five…or rather a high five?

These are just a few of the many fun tricks you can teach your dog. Of course, there are many more, such as crawling, kissing, bending over, and sneezing. And you never have to be a dog expert or dog professional just to teach various commands. Even if you are a typical owner, as long as you are aware of your pet’s physical limitations and personality traits, know how to motivate your pet to obey, and have patience and determination, successful Maltese puppy training will never be impossible to achieve.
