Kids Vegetable Smoothie Party

Health Fitness

Almost every parent I know wants to give their children more vegetables to eat. They try all kinds of creative techniques to hide vegetables in kid-friendly foods, not letting the kid leave the table without having eaten spinach or (gag) cauliflower. In an act of desperation, they put lettuce on the children’s lunch sandwiches, knowing that the lettuce would be immediately thrown away.

So how do you feed vegetables to children? Like anything else, making vegetables fun! All children love games and parties. So why not have a vegetable smoothie party? This game is great for playdates, although it requires a lot of products and a lot of mixing. To keep things simple, you can play the “shake game” at home on Thursdays. Golden Monday.

The best thing about vegetable smoothies is that no one really knows what’s in them. As long as you put something sweet in it, like apples, dates, or a banana, you can put “yucky” stuff in it, like kale and parsley, and no one will complain!

The rules of the smoothie game:

You make 3-5 different shakes. Put them in cups and give the children an empty cup each. Let them mix the shakes at the table however they like. You can also make this game competitive by testing their creations and assigning a prize to the best one.

Here are some great shakes to try at the shake party.

Blend each of these shakes until you get a very smooth consistency, almost like a juice. Add water if it is too thick:

1. Green Tropical Smoothie

1 ripe mango, 1/2 cup pineapple, 1 cucumber, 3 kale leaves, 2 celery sticks, ice cubes as needed.

Place the mango in the blender first. Mix until smooth.

2. Orange smoothie

1 carrot, 1-2 bananas, 1/2 cup peeled and diced butternut squash, 1/2 cup water, a handful of almonds, a handful of ice, 1 tsp. cinnamon, pinch of nutmeg, pinch of cloves.

Soak the almonds in the water for 2 hours or overnight. Discard the soaking water and use fresh water for the batter. Put the bananas in the blender first, then add everything else and blend until smooth.

3. Lime smoothie

3 kale leaves, 2 celery sticks, 1/4 bunch of parsley, 2 cucumbers, juice of 1 lemon, large pear, handful of ice.

Use an apple, if you don’t have pears.

4. Red Smoothie

1/2 beetroot, 2 apples, 1 carrot, 1 celery stalk, handful of ice

Add more water, if the shake becomes too thick. I also like to add 1/2 avocado to this one.
