Give Your Kitchen A Complete Makeover And Do It On A Low Budget – Phase Five – Cabinet

Real Estate

Now that the kitchen ceiling and walls have been taped and finished, almost perfectly (perhaps?) and he took my advice and sprayed a nice even texture (preferably orange peel) on both walls and ceiling; now you are ready to move on. But before you do, take a moment to look around your kitchen and observe his hands-on work. I tell you the truth, in my opinion there are few sights more beautiful than beautifully finished and textured drywall. To be totally honest with you, I even love the smell of fresh drywall and joint compound; It’s the smell of renewal for me and I love it.

Before we move on to phase five of our kitchen remodeling (cabinet installation) segment, let’s take a moment to do something I think is very important. You see, the texture you sprayed on the walls and ceiling is nothing more than water-diluted joint compound, that’s all, and it’s very easy to accidentally scrape it off the wall or ceiling. It can rub against the walls and create a soft spot that really stands out, and so on. My point is this: before proceeding to implement the next phase of work, I take the time to prime my ceiling and walls at this point to try and avoid any damage to the texture. Unless you have a very large kitchen, you should be able to brush and roll the ceiling and walls fairly quickly, rather than spraying the ceiling and walls with an airless paint sprayer. In fact, I insist on putting not one but two coats of acrylic latex primer to protect and seal the texture as well as the finish of the drywall. Once the primer has completely dried, only then am I ready to move on to the next task.

Priming of walls and ceilings

At this stage of the game, the ceiling and walls should look really nice and stand out. With the walls and ceiling fully primed (preferably double-coated) and sealed, your new kitchen should start to take shape – that is, take on its new façade – even at this stage. Your walls and ceiling should look clean and majestic. Even though there’s nothing in the kitchen at this point but walls and a ceiling (at least that you can see), you should still be able to see straight walls; ceiling that is attractive and smooth, as well as sharp lines and straight corners… and you should be pleased with the way things are going so far. Take the time to give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back because a lot of hard work has gone into achieving this look. Beautiful ceilings and walls are not easy; It is not a given, it is only through precise measurement and an eye for detail and fine workmanship that this can be achieved. So really, give yourself credit for everything you’ve done and let’s get ready to start phase five. OK? Alright. Learn more.
