Many people ask me how to lose the weight around the thighs and buttocks, most of the time, the “fitness smart-alecks” advise these people to walk a lot or jog slowly, as it is the best for burning fat. .

While studies show that long cardio sessions are the best for burning fat, they’re not necessarily the most effective for fat loss.

Carrying weight around the hips is an excess production of estrogen, if you suffer from this then you should avoid long cardio sessions, this will also increase your cortisol levels causing you to gain weight around your belly as well. Instead, you should be doing vigorous exercise (sprints) and weight training (resistance).

Choose organic produce where you can and be sure to wash all fruits and vegetables to avoid ingesting pesticides/toxins. Cut down on alcohol, yes this is a must – everyone who is trying to lose weight wants to cut out alcohol! For occasions you can drink red wine but not more than two units per day.

Increase intake of cruciferous vegetables such as watercress, collard greens, cabbage, broccoli, kale; if digested properly, they will help correct the imbalance, plus the fiber, vitamins, and minerals are great for your overall health and wellness.

There are supplements that can also help; remember that supplements should only be used to supplement what is already a good diet, these include:

A good quality fish oil – these have a multitude of benefits and should be included in everyone’s diet.
A good quality multivitamin – everyone should take a good multivitamin
A diindolylmethane (DIM) supplement may be beneficial
Organic flax seed hulls can also help

An example of a daily diet for people with excess estrogen might include:
Breakfast: omelette made with spinach and mushrooms (garlic optional)
Snack: 1/2 avocado with a handful of nuts
Lunch: chicken salad made with chicken breast, watercress, cherry tomatoes, spinach leaves, radishes, and sprinkled flaxseed hulls.
Snack: 1/2 avocado with a handful of nuts
Dinner: roast turkey with sprouts, broccoli, parsnips, carrots

It is best to steam vegetables and make sure you chew the food well.

Switch to green tea and water.
