Breakfast in bed is still the best way to honor moms everywhere on Mother’s Day. There really is no greater reward as a parent than knowing that children are turning out to be healthy and contributing members of society. When children show up at the bedroom door with a tray of carefully prepared food on Mother’s Day morning, nothing else is required.
But as time goes on and they become successful tax attorneys and corporate moguls, it’s time to add a little oomph to that time-honored tradition. “My son the doctor” better hurry up with displays of affection that can be flaunted on the bridge. Last minute internet shopping is fine, but it is best if there is at least one follow-up call. She will know if the gift is sent by a secretary. She will just know.

It also takes a while to order this as it is custom made. Every mom wants one. The price of these can vary greatly depending on the materials, as well as the types and weights of the birthstones. But this gift is always worth the effort.
Other possible gifts that are sure to please include bringing all the family members together for brunch. Depending on the budget, this may involve a favorite local restaurant or preparing at home. A surprise dinner after church is usually well received. But there is nothing wrong with more elaborate plans to take Mom to a cabin getaway if a large group of adult children contribute to cover the cost.
For some, a simple visit that includes planting flowers can be as thoughtful and welcome as anything else.
