Burton Air review

Sports

The Burton Air snowboard is another version of the Custom Snowboard that includes CARBON I-BEAM in addition to the technology applied to the Air.

The Burton Air is $ 100 cheaper than the Custom, but generally snowboarders buy the Custom. The Custom really has more pop due to that carbon on the inside, but only experienced riders will see the difference.

The Burton Air now includes many sizes and adapts to the needs of the grown-ups with tires ranging from 145cm to 166cm.

Technically, the Burton Air has a negative core profile that results in a smoother, freestyle flex and twist, suitable for park, pipe and rails.

The Super Fly Core makes the board lighter and more pop-laden, as it is a vertical sandwich of hard and soft woods.

The DualZone EGD adds solidity to the edges for added control and durability with wood grain added to the side of the edges.

The fiberglass used is TRIAX RESPONSE, basically a longitudinal layer of fiberglass covered with two layers of diagonal glass that yields higher torsional stiffness and therefore more precise carving and turning start.

The base is obviously Sintered and Burton Air has Sintered Vision Base which is highly porous for good wax absorption (better glide) but also to put on a nice Live Design.

And a personal touch from Burton adds strength to the deck by adjusting the deck especially for a long season. His technique consists of overbuilding the board and placing it on a machine that simulates the conditions of an entire riding season.

Now that you’ve learned about the technical features behind this Burton Air snowboard, you can admit that this board is solid and suitable for many conditions. Before you decide to buy a Custom, think twice and give the Air a try and you will see that it is already a great machine. For those who have big feet, they should take a look at the Royale snowboard, a replica of the Air.
