An introduction to nails

Many people consider having beautiful nails to be very important and attractive. However, it is a pleasure to look at beautiful manicured nails. Attractive and long nails look elegant and sophisticated. Perfectly manicured nails can often say a lot about a person’s style and confidence. Nails grow from the area below the cuticle, called the matrix. The living part of the nail is called the matrix and the cuticle is the layer of skin that protects it. It is very important for the strength and growth of the nails. The growth of new nail cells in the matrix pushes the older nail cells towards the fingertips and they harden.

Heredity and health are generally the deciding factors in how quickly nails grow. Fingernails grow about 0.1 millimeter per day. This means that it takes approximately four to six months for a nail to fully regrow. Healthy nails are generally smooth and without cracks or white spots. They are uniform in color and consistency and are free of any type of discoloration. Nails generally grow faster in summer than in winter. It is observed that the nails of the dominant hand grow faster. The optimal and practical nail length depends on the person’s activities and lifestyle. It is advisable to take into account that the tip of the nail cannot extend beyond one third of the nail body. Nails break less often when they are all the same length.

It is very important to keep the nails without polish from time to time, to allow them to breathe. It is also advisable to keep a lotion or hand cream near the kitchen sink. It is also essential to wear gloves while doing housework or gardening and rub hands with cream, before putting on gloves.
