Everyone knows that children learn by playing. So it stands to reason that we all want our kids to get the most out of their game. There are lots of great toys out there, so why not combine a cool toy that kids love with a learning tool?

Here are five great educational toys for kids and why they’re so good for your kids.

1) wooden blocks

Wooden blocks have been around forever and there’s a simple reason for that: kids love them. Children of all ages and genders love to play with wooden blocks.

They are great learning toys for children because they teach them about:

  • Shapes: Blocks come in a variety of shapes with flat surfaces for stacking, arches, cubes, pyramids, and domes.

  • Feel: The wooden blocks are not cold or too hard to the touch. Wood is smooth and won’t do much damage in an accident.

  • Colors: Wooden blocks are usually multicolored. This gives parents the opportunity to teach a child about colors and for the child to enjoy the beauty of colors.

  • Fine Motor Skills: A child will learn how to handle blocks, as they get older they will learn how to stack and line them up. The older they get, the taller their towers, bridges and cities grow.

  • Cognitive skills: Some children would like to sort blocks into groups of color, shape, or size. A parent can also introduce a child to discover this recognition of groups and similar items using simple blocks.

  • Imagination: A child can build anything with blocks; his imagination is his only limitation. The blocks provide a great outlet for children to exercise their imagination.

2) puzzle

Puzzles teach children so many wonderful skills. There are puzzles suitable for all ages and levels, from two- and three-piece games to more difficult multi-piece games.

  • Cognitive Skills: A child will learn how the pieces can fit together to make a whole and how to find and place these pieces. Some puzzles use simple shapes to create a picture or shapes to fit on a board, or cubes to make a picture, but most puzzles are complex images in irregular shapes that are pieced together to form an intricate image.

  • Fine Motor Skills: Little fingers will have fun snapping these simple shapes into position. The smaller pieces will make this more challenging as they get older.

  • Patience and Social Skills: A child can learn to be patient with puzzles, as they take time to master, and learning to take turns develops better social skills.

3) Books

Children will learn many things from books that will serve them well into old age. They learn about allegory, rhyme, rhythm, and repetition. They learn listening skills and observation skills. Eventually, they will learn reading skills, but more importantly, reading to your children provides them with special time with their parents or loved ones.

4) shape sorter

Shaper Sorters provide children with many hours of entertainment and give them the opportunity to practice their fine motor skills by fitting pieces into the holes, cognitive skills by learning to recognize different shapes, and visual skills by learning about different colors.

Learning to take turns with siblings and friends teaches children important social and negotiation skills.

5) Role play

Toys such as dollhouses, pirate ships, shops, garages, or castles consisting perhaps of vehicles, dolls, people, and various items will help teach your child role-playing. Role playing is when the child uses her imagination to create characters and a story using props. Boys may prefer cars and fire trucks or pirate ships, and girls may prefer dolls and shops.

Children’s toys often combine fun with learning, and it’s not hard to find the right toy for your child to actively learn about their world.
