Philosophy and others

Expect snowboarding to be harder to learn than skiing. It is also more interesting and creative. Making decisions on the go is exciting. At first you will fall a lot. You will have to deal with the blows. It pays to anticipate what you are going to do and think about it as you do it. Because snowboarding is energetically demanding and because your level of concentration influences your success, I suggest you get a good night’s sleep. It also helps to be in shape (obviously you will have to work on this before your trip) and to be brave.

The day that started as my worst day turned into my best day. If you are having a horrible day and feel like you are not getting it, go ahead; It could become your best snowboard day!

Your trip

If this is the first time you snowboard and you do not expect to be able to do it frequently, I recommend that you do it for a stretch of two or three consecutive days. That way you will get much more benefit. Before starting your trip, check the snow conditions at the nearest park on the internet. If the temperature is not low enough, there may be mud. If there is little snowfall and strong winds blowing what little there is on the mountain, leaving mostly ice or very hard snow, you won’t get as much from your first experience. It may be helpful to travel to a different park or postpone your trip until conditions improve.
