Keyword Analysis: Goodbye Captcha and Limit 100!

Digital Marketing

When many SEO specialists are asked which keyword tool they use (not considering professional SEO software), they will immediately tell you “Google AdWords Keyword Tool”. Undoubtedly, this search tool has gained great popularity in the SEO industry, as it helps to obtain the necessary keyword data in a structured way.

However, there is an interesting thing that not all people are aware of. The external keywords tool has limited functionality:

– Shows only 100 results (omitting some interesting key phrases that I will mention a little later).

– Makes you type the CAPTCHA to make sure you are not an evil robot.

In fact, the solution to this problem is so simple that I can’t believe so many people still don’t know about it. So to unlock the full functionality, you need:

1. Go to google.com and log into your account.

2. Search for adwords.google.com/.

3. You will then be redirected to the AdWords interface, where you will need to configure some settings including your preferred time zone and currency. Click Next.

4. Hooray! Your AdWords account has been created. Now all you need is to log in.

5. That’s it. After logging in, find the Tools & Analytics tab and choose the Keywords tool. You now have a fully functional tool that displays many more keywords for free. Although it lacks some cool features of professional SEO software, it is still excellent for most marketers.

If you still have doubts about signing up, I will tell you about a little experiment that I have carried out. Let’s say, I own an e-commerce store, selling some kid-friendly things. And one big day I decide to invest in a new kind of thematic good related to the great Alexander Milne story, Winnie the Pooh. My first step is to analyze the search demand for this topic, so I go to the external keyword tool (without AdWords account) and get 100 keywords related to “Winnie the Pooh”.

winnie the pooh bedding

winnie the pooh dvd

winnie the pooh music

winnie the pooh baby shower

winnie the pooh costumes

winnie the pooh watch

winnie the pooh toy

Looks good, right? But wait, most of these keywords are marked with “High Competition”, which means that starting an ad campaign can be quite expensive.

Okay, now let’s get more data to decide. I sign in to my AdWords account and run the same experiment with the same keyword phrase. As a result, I get 800 (!) Keywords, instead of 100. I love the idea of getting more information as it gives me so much more freedom with my subsequent actions. Let’s see, what else have I found out:

winnie the pooh poetry – 1,600 searches

Winnie The Pooh Coloring Book – 1,900 Searches

pooh puzzles – 3600 searches

And much much more!

Also, these keywords have little competition so it may save me some money.

Probably someone would also be interested in misspellings and variations:

winniethepooh: 8100 searches

win the pooh – 9,900 searches

Of course, it may not be as mathematically correct, but eight times as many keywords means eight times as many ideas. Now, the best thing to do is take direct action and find lots of new super convertible keywords.
